It's just over 2 blocks from the club so we'll do our beginner workshop there, and then head on over to New York Comedy Club from 12noon til 5pm. Sorry for the changes.
 
Please be sure to bring a notebook, a pen and your great sense of humor! You can feel free to bring any existing jokes or observations as we'll be punching up existing stuff later in the session.

*PLEASE NOTE: Full intensive for beginners includes your choice of a 2 hour virtual teleseminar (delivered via web/telephone conference) prior to 11/8 or you can arrive at 10AM on 11/8 to learn the beginner concepts. It's your choice. We'll confirm with you which option you're going with prior to the class.

Objective: Provide students with an intro to stand-up comedy including highly effective material development techniques and provide an opportunity for students to showcase their newly developed material at Broadway Comedy Club on November 19th.

Through your participation in this powerful course, you’ll learn:

• Confidence building exercises designed to remove the “fear factor”, boost performance and enhance comfort on stage
• How to develop your own unique material – approaches to joke/humor development
• Determining Point of View (POV), Attitude, and/or Character

ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTORS:

 

Sassi Keegan:

 

Sassi has been creating opportunities for emerging comedians for more than 6 years through her industry showcases and weekly open mics. You may have seen her in a Lysol Commercial or doing promos for the Cartoon Network. She has worked with Chicago City Limits, Blue Man Group: Tubes and The National Theatre of Performing Arts. She features in Momedy Comedy as part of the Mamapalooza Festival for Moms who Rock every year. She has been an integral part of bringing the arts uptown to Northern Manhattan including The Uptown Arts Stroll Festival Comedy Night and Monkeying Around Uptown. Sassi performs and produces regularly at Broadway Comedy Club and New York Comedy Club. Sassi has been written up in The Manhattan Times, Time Out New York and Theatre Mania.

 

Jen French:

Jen has been a comedy show producer and talent developer since 2004. She ran a successful weekly stand up and Improv comedy show, performed at clubs in Orlando, FL and is a graduate of SAK Comedy Lab, also based in Orlando, FL. She is the CEO of Best Medicine Comedy productions, with a mission to spread the joy of laughter around the world. In addition, Jen has been involved in documentation, training and curriculum development, doing consulting for Fortune 100 clients around the globe.

 

Buddy Flip:

Buddy Flip has appeared on Comedy Central, HBO's Comedy in the Park, Sirius Radio's Howard Stern Show, The Wiseguys Show and The Raw Dog Comedy Channel (all on Sirius). He also appears regularly in Las Vegas at The Riviera.

He's been teaching standup for over five years and his educational programs have been featured in The NY Times, The NY Observer and Stagetime Online Magazine.
